If you search for touch displays online, you will find hundreds of Chinese suppliers – manufacturers, trading companies, and everything in between. Prices for seemingly similar products can vary by 50% or more. For a kiosk builder or system integrator, choosing the wrong partner means delayed projects, inconsistent quality, and support that disappears after payment.
This checklist is designed to help you separate real manufacturers from resellers, and reliable partners from risky ones – before you place your first order.
1. Manufacturer or Trading Company?
This is the first question to settle. Trading companies are not always bad – but for project-based B2B hardware, working directly with a manufacturer gives you engineering access, customization ability and stable quality control.
How to verify:
- Ask for a factory video call or visit – a real factory will show you production lines, not just a showroom
- Ask detailed engineering questions about bonding processes, panel brands and controller options – traders answer vaguely, factory engineers answer specifically
- Check whether the company name and factory address are consistent across website, business license and shipping documents
2. In-House Production and QC Process
The single best predictor of batch-to-batch consistency is how much of the production happens in-house. Ask:
- Do you assemble in-house? (Cleanroom assembly for touch displays is a strong positive signal)
- What is your inspection process? Look for full-process inspection – incoming materials, in-process checks, final inspection – not just a final look before packing
- Do you run aging tests? Powered-on aging (typically 24–48 hours) catches early failures before shipping. If a supplier doesn’t do this, you become their aging test
3. Engineering Support Quality
In display projects, communication quality determines project speed. Test it early:
- Send a technical inquiry and measure response time and specificity
- Ask for a drawing or specification review of your integration design – good engineers will spot potential problems proactively
- Check whether they ask you questions: about installation environment, brightness needs, interfaces, quantity. A supplier who quotes without asking anything is quoting blind
4. Customization Capability
Even “standard” projects usually need something adjusted – a mounting bracket, a cable length, a logo on the cover glass. Confirm:
- What customization levels do they support? (logo printing, cover glass, mounting, interfaces, full ODM)
- Is there an engineering team in-house, or is customization outsourced?
- Can they show examples of past custom projects similar to yours?
5. Samples, Warranty and After-Sales
- Sample policy: serious manufacturers offer sample units (often 1–2 pcs) for evaluation, because they trust their product to win the order
- Warranty terms: 12 months is standard; 24–36 months for project orders shows confidence
- Cross-border defect handling: how exactly are defective units repaired or replaced internationally? Get the process in writing before the order, not after the failure
6. Red Flags to Walk Away From
- Prices dramatically below market with vague explanations (usually means downgraded panels or skipped QC)
- No factory visit or video call possible, ever
- Quotations with missing specifications – panel brand, brightness, touch controller model left blank
- Pressure to pay large deposits before samples or drawings are confirmed
- No written warranty or after-sales process
The Short Version
A reliable Chinese touch display manufacturer will happily show you their factory, explain their QC process in detail, offer samples, answer engineering questions quickly, and put warranty terms in writing. Any supplier who hesitates at these basics is telling you something important – believe them.
